What is Thioridazine?

Thioridazine is in a class of drugs called phenothiazines, and works by changing the actions of chemicals in the brain.

This medication is used to treat psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia and depression. It helps to think more clearly, feel less nervous, and take part in everyday life. It can also help prevent suicide in people likely to harm themselves and reduce aggression and the desire to hurt others, as well as help decrease the negative thoughts and hallucinations.

Thioridazine is generally reserved for people who do not respond to other drugs or who cannot take other drugs due to specific side effects.
